Dec. 12 at Biddy's...a good time had by all...

Saturday night we played Biddy's, a good place to have a drink and listen to music on a cold winter's evening.  Bartender made me a hot toddy, which was a great way to get all primed for the show.

We opened for a pretty sweet Portland band called "The Redeemed."  Our Pedal Steel player, Big Tex, is a member of that band as well as ours.  The crowd seemed to be having a good time and it turned out to be a high energy set for us.  This even though we were missing Roscoe and Mike.  David's harmonica and Geoff's guitar work sounded great as usual.  Ken managed to keep us all clipping along and Tex did a good job filling in on base.  I was in the mood for having a good time, which I did!

I can't help but feel that our band's mix of personnel is pretty fantastic these days.  Talented group of people and we're just having too much fun whenever we play together!

See you all at our next show-

Now that was a good show!

Last night Shorty And The Mustangs opened for The Bouchards and The Possum Hollow Boys at Duff's Garage.  Man were we hot!  managed to pump out one high energy set (thank you Ken!).  Our two new members, Geoff and David, aren't just fitting in nicely, they're making the rest of us sound damned fine.  Great solos from Tex, Dave and Geoff.  Roscoe and Tex's singing was right on the mark and I had one of my better nights as well.

David Lipkind on harp...

Our band having a great night...

Last night's songs included: Mind Your Own Business, Crazy Arms, Apartment Number Nine, Hello Trouble, Take Me Back to Tulsa, You're Still On My Mind, something we call Geoff's Instrumental, Thanks A Lot,  Miles And Miles Of Texas, Leaving On Your Mind, Waltz Across Texas, Sugar Mama. Honky Tonk Bound, Just Call Me Lonesome, Route 66, Only Make Believe, Well Traveled Love and Smoke Smoke Smoke.

Music = Fun.  What a great time!

Nice Show!

Hey All..

So this morning we did the Portland Farmers Market.  Was a good show.  Cold, but fun.  Great crowd...people stuck around and really seemed to enjoy the music.  Everybody in the band had a good time.  We also got the chance to get the word out about the show tonight's at Duff's Garage.  Hope to see a good crowd there.  We always seem to do pretty well at Duff's.

Cheers!

Pics!

Here are a couple of pics just to get things rolling.  I need to get photos of our two newest band members, David Lipkind, who plays harmonica, and Geoff Clarkson doing guitar, mandolin, etc.  I should get that chance during one of the two shows we'll be doing on Nov. 28th.

Welcome!

Shorty here folks...with this first posting I just wanted to welcome you all to the official Shorty and the Mustangs blog.  We figured it was high time we provided our fans with a place to find out about upcoming shows, get the latest skinny on the band, tell us we're great (or that we stink), and the like.  We'll also be sharing photos and do our best to keep this blog updated, so we hope you visit often!
